Title: Watchcrab

Author: Neal Asher

Length: short story

First Publication: The Agony Column, 2003

What the Story is About: From the story:

A little tampering with code made it possible to have, instead of a Sunday joint, a prawn of equivalent size that you carved into slices. You could buy crab meat for a few euros a kilogram because crabs could be grown to huge size. For an Australian land crab, which had been intelligent and dangerous when it had been merely the size of a dinner plate, people found other uses, especially when it was grown to the size of Rottweiler.
